Turning passion into purpose

In 2007, pro snowboarder Jeremy Jones reacted to the lack of snow and saw that something bigger was going on, and he felt the need to act. So Jeremy founded Protect Our Winters. Pretty quickly, POW brought on other concerned pro athletes, individuals, resorts, brand partners and passionate outdoor enthusiasts. Since then, POW has grown from a kernel of an idea into a worldwide network of more than 150,000 supporters and over 200 athlete ambassadors in all year around sports and adventures, practicing imperfect advocacy! 

Protect Our Winters galvanizes the passionate outdoor community to lead the way in climate action through education, collaboration, and advocacy. POW builds and empowers an alliance of motivated individuals, businesses, and communities who live, love, and benefit from the outdoors to drive systemic change and create a better future for us all.

Europe’s mountains and wild places are critically impacted by climate change impacting both these precious environments and the ways of life so dependent upon them. Yet as a privileged community, we understand the changes we see, in the landscapes we love, are but precursors of impacts already critically affecting communities far less fortunate than our own. POW want to preserve our planet's winters as a symbol of a sustainable future for all.
